IOSH is Europe’s leading professional body for Health and Safety practitioners. The institute works to advance the safety, health and welfare of people at work and those affected by work activities. Good health and safety standards rely on employers and employees working together to reduce risks and prevent accidents and ill health arising from work activities. An essential element of any safe system is the knowledge and attitude of employees, and this demands proper training in the basics of health and safety, as well as specific training for individual tasks. The objectives of this course is to make delegates aware of their responsibilities for safety, under relevant legislation, towards themselves, colleagues and others affected by work activities and to enable them to contribute to any health and safety management system.
Working safely is a one-day course for people at any level, in any sector, needing a grounding of health and safety. It focuses on why health and safety is important, and how you can make a real difference to the wellbeing of yourself and others through changing your behaviour.
It focuses on best practice rather than legislation, it’s suitable for delegates from around the world, and not just those from the UK.
The course is a 100% match to the Health and Safety Executive’s ‘Passport’ syllabus.
Working safely is recognised as an equivalent to a level 1 award in health and safety in a construction environment. This means that delegates who successfully complete it can apply for a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) green Labourer card once they’ve passed the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Operatives Test
The programme covers a defined syllabus and is assessed by the completion of the Institutes approved assessment procedure.
- Module 1: Introducing Working Safely
- Module 2: Defining Hazard and Risk
- Module 3: Identifying Common Hazards

- Module 5: Protecting our environment
This course is delivered over one day either at our training centre or at your premises.
